Kingsmuir House Access Statement
We take privacy seriously and so have put together this statement to explain what data we collect, how we store it and how we use it.
This privacy statement is for Kingsmuir House, a partnership between Malcolm and Karen Mullarkey at Kingsmuir House, Springhill Road, Peebles, EH45 9EP and governs the privacy of the users of the public website (kingsmuirhouse.co.uk) and guests who choose to stay at Kingsmuir House.
It explains how we comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which is in force from 25th May, 2018, the DPA (Data Protection Act) [pre GDPR enforcement] and the PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).
What personal information are we collecting?
The Kingsmuir House website (kingsmuirhouse.co.uk) will collect name, address, email and telephone number through the automated booking process. This information is encrypted and held on European servers through the services.
The same personal information may be obtained from potential guests as a result of direct telephone or email bookings.
On arrival at Kingsmuir House guests will be asked for, or to confirm, their name, address (optional), telephone number and nationality. These are all required by the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972. The registration form will also include a request for consent to receive email newsletters from Kingsmuir House and/or an annual greetings card. .
How do we store it?
The registration forms will be retained for no longer than 18 months in a secure file within Kingsmuir House.
The registration form contact information will be held electronically password protected for the purpose of sending any annual greeting card until a time as it is no longer required.
How will the information be used?
The information will be used to contact the guest exclusively about their requested stay at Kingsmuir House.

Email mailing List and marketing messages
We have an email mailing list consisting of both guests to Kingsmuir House and others who have shown an interest in the activities of Kingsmuir House.
The lists are used to inform subscribers about our services and/or news about local events. All subscribers have provided specific consent in accordance with the regulations. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time through an automated on-line service or, if not available, through contacting Kingsmuir House directly.
The type and content of marketing messages subscribers receive is clearly outlined at the point of subscription.
Our EMS (email marketing service) provider is Mailchimp. As is normal for such providers email marketing messages may contain cookies in order to track subscriber activity within email marketing messages. .
Contact and Communication with us
Website users contacting us through Contact Us page on the Kingsmuir House website do so at their own discretion and provide any personal details at their own risk. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use.
Where we have clearly stated and made you aware of the fact, and where you have given your express permission, we may use your details to send you Kingsmuir House update and services information through a mailing list system. .
